12 Weeks

Hurray I finally reached the end of my first trimester. I do hope that the nausea feelings will go off totally. For now, I do not feel as nausea as before, at least I can stomach my breakfast and lunch without any nausea feeling. Only dinner is a problem now, however there are times whereby I feel perfectly fine and could finish a normal dinner.

I visited the gynae two weeks back and the scans showed that everything was fine. Dr Kee even mentioned that the baby was growing very well and bigger then it should be at 11 weeks. Dr Kee then asked if I wanted to perform the OSCAR test. This test is to determine if the baby I am carry is a normal baby or does it have a higher chance that it will be a baby with down syndrome. I was a little taken back when he asked as he asked me after the scans. I wondered if it was due to some abnormality that he observed when he performed the scan. Hence without hesitation, I agreed to perform the test and it was arrange the following week.

We were referred to TMC for the scan. Dear and I headed there early in the morning hoping that the tests will be complete early so that he can head back to work in the afternoon. While we were there, we were lost. There were no clear signage to inform us on how to get to the fetus testing clinic. The worst thing was that I could not even find the main entrance to enter the building. The door indicated that it will only be opened at at 10am hence we looked for another entrance. Then we realised that the door was actually opened. Hmmm.....
I was also caught by surprise to be spotted by our friend's mother who was working there. She stays at the same block which my parents are staying and her son and I knew each other since kindergarden days. Hahaha. I knew that she is working there but to be called by her in the hospital just seems a little scary. haha.. I felt like a little kid who was caught skipping school.

During the scan, the radiologist was unable to get a good scan which will enable her to perform the calculations. She was trying to get a good measurement of the distance between the neck and the lining of the neck (sorry don't know the actual name of it). The baby was a little naughty as he/she refuses to lay straight or kept moving. I was asked to turn to my left or right and even to cough to see if the baby will be bounced to get it in the appropriate position. Hahha. It was funny to see the baby bounced when I just cough slightly.

The radiologist was still unable to get a good scan and I was asked to empty my bladder before she tries again. When I came back, the baby was actually flipped the other way. hmmm just walking from the room to the toilet and back the baby was moved? Hmmm poor baby as I have to walk and stand the entire day while I work. I hope I did not torture it too much.

The radiologist also mentioned that the baby is a very active one as it kept moving. It turned and somersaulted during the entire scan. hahaha.... Really really interesting. I will only get the results in two weeks time when I see Dr Kee again. I hope that the results will be ok.
